Our Story

Harvey Hendrickson founded Mastercraft Metal Finishing in 1947. At that time, Harvey had 13 years of experience in the business of plating and polishing metal. The company has resided at the same location, 1175 Harrison Street in Seattle, ever since. Originally, Mastercraft Metal Finishing plated coffee makers with silver, a protective coating second only to gold. Appliances and fireplace equipment, including screens, were made to look like new. Lamps were only one of innumerable articles that came into Hendrickson’s shop looking as if they had graced Nero’s palace and leaving the plant in new condition. Besides making items look new, items were also be made to look old. The firm does a lot of work on parts to give them an antique finish. We strive to match precisely the finish on samples supplied by the customer. There is a lot of satisfaction in doing this type of work. It is more than plating and polishing. It is creative. We take great pride in doing what is needed to make our customers happy to the extent we are able.

In 1982, James (Jim) L. Gaviglio Sr, jumped at the chance to own his own business, purchased Mastercraft Metal Finishing of Seattle, and has continued to run it as a successful business ever since. Prior to purchasing the company, Jim, at age 18, began his life-long career of polishing and plating at Advanced Electroplating, followed by managing Victory Auto-Bumpers. He worked and operated Mastercraft, making it the success it is today, by insisting on obtaining the highest possible quality in all its finished products as well as complete customer satisfaction.
